Emoticons, Emojis, & the Evolution of Language
My multimedia production covers the evolution of the emoticon, emojis, and their roles in computer-mediated communications. I chose to take a picture-in-picture media approach, using Explain Everything to create engaging visuals (featuring many familiar smiley-faces!) throughout the video while also appearing on camera in the corner, a tactic I’ve enjoyed experimenting with this semester in other courses. After creating all the visual clips, I completed final cuts and edits in Camtasia 2. I also chose more upbeat background music in order to provide a more alluring – rather than calming – feel to the production. Enjoy!
