Multimedia Project: Short Words Big Ideas
Hi Everyone,
For the multimedia project I decided to explore two seemingly different mediums for communicating small ideas: Postcards and Twitter. Although Twitter is a new phenomenon, it occurred to me over the course of the readings that in fact the need to communicate in small packets of information is much much older. It appeared in some ways that the humble postcard was the forerunner of Twitter in a way. I’ve created the presentation in PowToon relying on the narration of two characters I’ve been working on: Renee and her slightly cynical sidekick Penguin Nat. You can see it on the following link:

The approach is on the light humorous side and I hope you enjoy.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Best Wishes

Absolutely loved your project! You had me laughing a few times:)
What an interesting topic. It definitely had me thinking of how attentive and selective one must be when writing a message on a postcard or Twitter. Although it has been years since I’ve sent a postcard, I do remember having to choose my words carefully and spending a lot of time trying to decide which postcard to purchase. Since a picture can be worth a thousand words, I remember placing importance on selecting the postcard that had the best picture. If the picture could accurately depict where I was, then I wouldn’t have to write a description of the location, and instead could write more about what I had done.
When thinking about Twitter, it’s also interesting to note how the famous # can help compensate for the limiting character space. With little space to write, you can quickly redirect your reader to another “community” that has more information or messages on the topic you’re referring to.
Overall, great job on your final project!!!!
