Classrooms in the Cloud is based on open source technology; it allows anyone to create, share and manage educational content.
Business model: scaling. The Eliademy basic version is free. Eliademy Premium is free for non-profits and public academic institutions, based on fair use policy (up to 10,000 users). A Premium version is fee based when used by for-profit organizations.
The mission of Eliademy is to “democratize education with technology”, based on a belief that education is a fundamental right of any individual in the world. Thus, the Eliademy team is committed to keep the platform free for all individual instructors, NGOs and publicly-funded educational institutions.
Eliademy is released under several licenses. The users who publish their content via Eliademy, are allowed to choose either a Copyright license or one type of Creative Commons (CC BY-NC-SA) license.
Volunteers can contribute a translation. Eliademy’s goal is to be available in all languages in the world. It is available in 36 languages at the moment and almost all of the translations are made by volunteers.
