The Conestoga
The conestoga is the name of the pioneer’s wagon in which they carried all their tools and possessions as they made their journey to the new frontier.
Likewise, I have a conestoga and these days it takes the form of my PC and my many memory sticks.
The memory sticks holds many of my prized possessions (family photos, videos, work documents, email back-ups, etc.) and they also hold may tools that I use for work.
To begin this discussion about the contents of my conestoga (and memory sticks) I wish to review my educational philosophy, beliefs and personal mission statement.
My Philosophy of Education
My philosophy of education is centered on the fact that all students have the right to feel safe and confident in their learning environment, have their individual educational needs met, and feel that they are included.
With this philosophy I work with the belief that all students can be successful in their educational program(s).
I believe that education is the key to the future, that teaching and learning are both individual and group processes and that all students learn at different rates and in different ways.
My Personal Belief Statements
- Every person has intrinsic worth.
- Human diversity is an asset to our community.
- It is essential to treat people with dignity and respect.
- A safe environment empowers individuals to thrive.
- Each of us shares responsibility for our community.
- Honesty and integrity are essential in building relationships.
- High standards, high expectations and high quality teaching fosters greater student achievement.
My Professional Mission Statement
My professional mission is to provide educational opportunities that promote skill development, build self-esteem and promote life-long learning.
