My Pioneering History

This Section of my eP documents my technology pioneering journey as I’ve incorporated technology through my work history.

Assistant Superintendent, Learning Services

July 2012 – Present

  • Leadership Role in the implementation of SharePoint as a district platform through which to build consistent school websites and create a student dashboard containing their educational history, assessment data and course content.
  • Developed a district Primary Reading Project utilizing computer assisted instruction through a program known as Lexia Reading
  • Completion of the UBC Masters in Educational Technology program (May 2013).

District Principal, Student Support Services

July 2005 – July 2012

  • Creation of a district virtual hub or “one stop centre” for all itinerant staff to locate the tools that they require for their work.
  • Creation of a staffing tool for the allocation of Education Assistant time to 40 schools.
  • Providing Speech and Language Pathologists with their own iPads to use with students in their work.
  • Began the UBC Masters in Educational Technology program (January 2010).

District Vice-Principal, Student Support Services

July 2003 – July 2005

  • Providing all special education teachers with a laptop computer.
  • Creation of a district electronic Individual Educational Plan (IEP) template housed virtually and stored on a central server.

Secondary School Vice-Principal                  

September 2002 – June 2003

  • Brought computers into the classroom instead of my students into computer labs.

Coordinator, Special Education                             

September 2001 – January 2002

  • Creation of a district WORD Individual Educational Plan (IEP) template.

Education Program Specialist (Arizona Adult Education)

August 2000 – August 2001

  • State Administrative Position providing leadership and technical support to adult education programs throughout the state of Arizona.

Secondary School Vice-Principal                  

September 1999 – June 2000

  • Utilized word processing to improve student literacy.

Classroom Teacher, Special Education

September 1990 – June 1999

  • Utilized Alpha-Smart mini-word-processors to improve student literacy.

Classroom Teacher, Regular & Special Education

September 1986 – June 1990

  • Classroom teaching in Math, English and support for students with special needs.
  • Taught computer classes using LogoWriter and a host of apple 2e programs.
