Hi,<\/p>\n
My name is Ethan. I am 20 years old and living in Vancouver, British Columbia where I was born and raised. I am currently undergoing a combined honours in biochemistry and chemistry degree with the goal of becoming a pharmaceutical chemist. The lab is interested in using this toxin as a cancer therapy. I am very passionate about what I do in the lab (organic synthesis), and being able to contribute to the making of deadly toxins makes it even more exciting.<\/p>\n
Even though I am heavily invested in academia now, it was not always like this. In fact, for most of my life, I was a basketball player with no regard for anything outside of sports. I have played for various club teams including Team BC where I got to travel and play basketball all around North America. A fun fact I like to tell people was that I guarded Shareef O\u2019Neal the son of Shaquille O\u2019Neal at a tournament in Las Vegas. Sadly, after high school, I could not envision myself making a professional career out of basketball so I decided to come to UBC where I found my passion for organic chemistry. Even though I do not play anymore I still work as a private trainer for basketball on the side.<\/p>\n
In my free time, I like to play video games, watch anime, and learn different skills. I am currently learning how to code in Javascript.<\/p>\n
