Hi everyone and welcome to my UBC English 301 personal blog. English 301 is a one semester (four months) online course instructed by Dr. Erika Paterson which is consisted of four units that are designed to cover principles of technical and business writing, design report proposal, building resume and job application; and writing formal report while developing networking strategies.
English 301 is an online-based course which is mainly designed to teach technical writing and communication skills in business as well as professional frameworks. The course utilizes online discussion, collaboration with peers and independent learning. It also prepares the students in enhancing their skills in online communications such as emails, text, Webfolio and networking which are necessary skills in today’s connected world. In addition, students will learn how to write professional memos, business reports, build resume and prepare for job application in online-based format. The students also get hands-on experience on real-life application to prepare them for future job opportunities and professional advancement.
My expectations for this course is to enhance my online communication and technical writing skills while developing my networking and collaboration abilities further. I also expect to improve my critiquing skills and I look forward to receiving feedback from my peers.
This course will give me the opportunity to gain important skills in online communication and blogging which is a “must have” in today’s online world.
