ETEC 533: Technology in the Math & Science Classroom Course Description
I’m Evonne Tutkaluk from Red Deer Alberta Canada. I teach high school math (grades 9 – 12) at École H.J. Cody High School in Sylvan Lake Alberta.
I invite you all to follow my journey through this, my 12th and final, MET course by clicking on the page tabs at the top! I’ve been waiting to take this course for 2 years and I’m thrilled to finally be taking it! How fitting that it is my final course! I am very interested in mobile applications for education – specifically in math and I hope this course introduces us to some! I am also very interested in learning how to implement more technology into my math classes and how to create meaningful and interesting learning activities to engage and motivate my students and improve their learning and retention! I can’t wait to put theory and research in to practice in my classroom!
I will be graduating this May (2012). Other UBC MET courses taken: 500, 510, 511, 512, 521, 530, 531, 532, 565, 580 and 590. Other Masters Courses Taken: EDCP 585 – Historical Thinking (UBC), Cognitive Coaching (University of Cincinnati) and Distributed Learning (University of Calgary). Lots of courses I know – a description of why I have taken so many courses in my program along with other interests, etc. is explained in my auto e-ography. You are all welcome to take a peek at my 590 ePortfolio if you like. Evonne’s 590 eP It’s still a work in progress as I plan to update it and include my final case study paper for my ETEC580 course and this 533 course.

What is an inquiry e-folio? |
![]() |
According to Challis (2005), an e-folio can be described as:
- selective and structured collections of information
- gathered for specific purposes and showing evidence of one’s accomplishments and growth
- stored digitally and managed by appropriate software
- developed by using appropriate multimedia and customarily with a web environment and,
- retrieved from a website, or delivered by DVD
My inquiry e-folio (in the context of this course) will be a collection of artifacts representing my on-going thinking and reflections throughout the course and my exploration of educational technology in the mathematics and science classroom. (UBC, ETEC 533, 2012)
Again, I invite you all to join me on my ETEC 533 journey!
