Google is probably the biggest internet related services and product out there today, we use Google on a daily basis. Especially the search engines and the browser we use, the most common browser right now is probably Google Chrome. Now the situation is that Google is being fined $22.5 Million for overriding Apple’s Safari browser settings.
After all the years that Google had been invading Apple, in the article they argued is the fine even gonna impact Google?
According to the article:
– It’s 0.1 percent of Google CEO Larry Page’s net worth, according to Forbes.
– It would take about five hours for the company to bring in that amount, based on sales from the most recent quarter.
– It’s less than the gain Google’s stock saw Thursday, the day the FTC announced the settlement. Google added $39.2 million to its market capitalization that day.
I don’t think $22.5 million is a big enough penalty for Google, from my perspective Google had effect large amount of Safari Users. FTC fined Google $22.5 Million certainly wasn’t enough. Invading the privacy of the Safari users its like tracking down different peoples’ online habits. The fine is only worth 0.1% of the net worth of Google CEO Larry Page, therefore the fine didn’t really effected Google. Also FTC did not force Google to admit to any privacy violation, therefore I don’t think $22.5 Million is Big Enough penalty for Google.
