Can hot air be the free fuel of the future?

The technology works like this: Unlike normal solar photovoltaic panels that convert the sun’s light into energy, the EnviroMission tower would create solar-thermal power, from both the sun and the wind. Like a greenhouse, the sun heats up the air underneath a huge translucent, sloping canopy around the tower that is about as wide as a football field. The higher the tower, the stronger the flow of air. The faster the turbines spin, the more electricity possible. After sundown, the ground continues to release heat and more electricity would be generated.

This article is very interesting because it discovered the possibilities of using something which has existed for a long time to generate electricity. Which is very convenient because heat are being released everyday and risen up therefore if this technique succeed, then the results will be way better than its original cost. Fuel are so important, and frankly we know that fuel isn’t enough forever. You don’t have to be a science major to know that heat rises: Just step into an attic on a hot summer day. But what you might not know is that this basic scientific reality could also help create clean energy for entire cities.

An Australian company says it can produce enough electricity for 100,000 homes by using the movement of hot air.

Study: Tablet users are rich, educated, news-loving

Owners of iPads and other tablet devices tend to be news junkies who are wealthier and more highly educated than than the general population, according to a new report. People who use tablet divices are more educated according to the research which states fifty-one percent of them have a college degree, compared with 28% of all Americans. Tablet users also tend to be richer: Fifth-three percent have an annual household income greater than $75,000, compared with 28% of the total U.S. population. Also, Tablet users read news much more than people who don’t use tablet. Since they are more accessible to news.

After reading this article, I partly agree and partly disagree. I agree that tablet users are usually richer because poor people can’t afford those devices. Also they are news-loving because it’s easy and quick to access to news and reading news is a good time-killing activity. However, I disagree tablet users are generally more educated, because people might be educated while they cannot afford a tablet or people who doesn’t like using tablet. I am not a tablet user, because I don’t like the small screens on them. Lots of people might have different reasons for not using tablets, but this doesn’t mean they’re not educated.

About half of tablet computer owners get news on their device every day, according to a new study.

The PC is dying, but very, very slowly

The trend is clear: Personal computer sales are slumping, and smartphone and tablet sales are booming. But Intel proved that the PC isn’t going away anytime soon. Though the more powerful and convenient tablet/smartphone devices are coming out, there are still some people who are in favor of using PCs.

I strongly agree with this video, because I used to think PCs are so useful and convinient, but after I got a laptop from the school. I began to find more convinience in laptops. However, I discovered some of the disadvantages for laptops and tablets as well. First PCs have stronger eletricity which operates a lot faster than the laptops and tablets. Second is the screen size, over using tablets and laptops might damage your eyes whereas some PC has enormous screen which you only have to take a little break between long usage. Thereore it makes sense that the PC sales are slumping however it won’t be disappeared quite yet.
