Health Screening

The purpose of Health Screening is to determine if the client is ready for exercise and further fitness assessments. We also combine Health Screening with a Body Composition Analysis.

Measures taken are resting Heart Rate, and resting Blood Pressure, for a complete description of background and protocols click here.

Example Data from Client Steve Larssen:

Resting Heart Rate: 62 beats per minute

Resting Blood Pressure: 85/129 (systolic/diastolic)

Weight: 182lbs                                   Height: 6’2”                                 BMI (kg/m2): 23.5

Waist Circumference: 92cm

Skin Folds Measurements: Average of 2 trials if within 0.4mm, or average of 2 most similar trials out of 3 tests.

Triceps: 6mm         Biceps: 7mm          Subscapular: 16mm       Iliac Crest: 29mm       Medial Calf:  7mm

Total: 65mm

From the Scoring Criteria of Canada’s Physical Activity, Fitness, and Lifestyle Approach (CPAFLA) indicates Steve’s gets an Excellent (Score of 4) for BMI and Waist Circumference, and Very Good (Score of 3) for SO5S.
