Classroom Management
- Establish routines for transitions and make them a habit
- Teach and vary attention grabbers (alarms, music, clapping patterns or counting)
- Wait time is incredibly important- give students time to calm themselves down before speaking or they may miss instructions
- Use a whistle during Physical Education, especially if you do not have a loud voice
- When giving students instructions, only give 1-3 of them and ask students to repeat them to ensure that they understand what is being asked of them
- Add humor to lessons so that students are more engaged
- Incorporate real life examples to enhance relevancy and immediacy
- Expectation and rubrics should be clear and concise
- Follow through with consequences for negative behavior
- Offer positive reinforcements and feedback so that students can do their best work
