I handed out post-it notes for students to write out any questions that they had and to write about how they would lend a &#8220;helping hand&#8221; to a new student who was going through a trauma that was similar to Nasreen&#8217;s; how would they help them fit in?\n\t\t\t\t<\/figcaption><\/figure><figure class='gallery-item'>\n\t\t\t<div class='gallery-icon landscape'>\n\t\t\t\t<a href='https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/experientialteaching\/2016\/01\/15\/teaching-grade-7\/art\/'><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/experientialteaching\/files\/2016\/01\/Art-150x150.jpg\" class=\"attachment-thumbnail size-thumbnail\" alt=\"\" aria-describedby=\"gallery-1-342\" \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<figcaption class='wp-caption-text gallery-caption' id='gallery-1-342'>\n\t\t\t\tArt &#8211; For one of the experiments, we analyzed a variety of synthetic urine samples that I created to look, smell and react the same way as actual urine.\n\t\t\t\t<\/figcaption><\/figure><figure class='gallery-item'>\n\t\t\t<div class='gallery-icon portrait'>\n\t\t\t\t<a href='https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/experientialteaching\/2016\/01\/15\/teaching-grade-7\/teacher-directed-writing\/'><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/experientialteaching\/files\/2016\/01\/Teacher-Directed-Writing-150x150.jpg\" class=\"attachment-thumbnail size-thumbnail\" alt=\"\" aria-describedby=\"gallery-1-350\" \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<figcaption class='wp-caption-text gallery-caption' id='gallery-1-350'>\n\t\t\t\tTeacher Directed Writing- I taught students about a variety of different writing styles, such as &#8220;Mystery Story Writing.&#8221; During Daily 5, students were expected to write their own stories as a part of the Choice Write segment.\n\t\t\t\t<\/figcaption><\/figure><figure class='gallery-item'>\n\t\t\t<div class='gallery-icon landscape'>\n\t\t\t\t<a href='https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/experientialteaching\/2016\/01\/15\/teaching-grade-7\/math-real-life\/'><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/experientialteaching\/files\/2016\/01\/Math-Real-Life-150x150.jpg\" class=\"attachment-thumbnail size-thumbnail\" alt=\"\" aria-describedby=\"gallery-1-351\" \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<figcaption class='wp-caption-text gallery-caption' id='gallery-1-351'>\n\t\t\t\tMath- For my Transformations unit, I incorporated a lot of real life examples to make my lessons more relevant and immediate for my students.\n\t\t\t\t<\/figcaption><\/figure><figure class='gallery-item'>\n\t\t\t<div class='gallery-icon landscape'>\n\t\t\t\t<a href='https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/experientialteaching\/2016\/01\/15\/teaching-grade-7\/hace\/'><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/experientialteaching\/files\/2016\/01\/HACE-150x150.jpg\" class=\"attachment-thumbnail size-thumbnail\" alt=\"\" aria-describedby=\"gallery-1-352\" \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<figcaption class='wp-caption-text gallery-caption' id='gallery-1-352'>\n\t\t\t\tHACE- We focused on healthy relationships.
