My name is Marcus Jung and I am a 4th year student the Faculty of Land and Food Systems, Majoring in Global Resource Systems. I plan to take 5 years for my degree as I want to continue to learn from the various disciplines on campus.
I was born and raised in Burnaby throughout my life and identify as being Chinese Canadian and I use the pronouns he/him/his. On campus, I have participated in various programs such as the Centre for Community Engaged learning, the Centre for Student Involvements and Careers, the International Service Learning program and Residence Life.
From my second to third year, I switched faculties and majors from Sciences to Land and Food Systems. I thought that medicine was something I wanted to do, but realized that it did not play with my personal strengths and values. My new majors focuses on global issues and encourages students to see things from many perspectives and at a systems level. These grand challenges our societies face cannot be tackled alone nor through one perspective, so we must learn to see through others eyes.
My ideal career is to work with a wide range of people and helping them become the best people they can be to tackle the challenges of our world. To help foster a world of engaged, loving and respectful citizens of our world.
