Learning Technology
The Undergraduate Medical Education Curriculum is delivered in a “Paperless” format, but we recommend you review the Bring Your Own Device Policy (BYOD) before making any purchases. The BYOD policy can be found on the Policies and Guidelines page: Bring Your Own Device Policy.
Increasingly, medical education and healthcare practice is moving towards a paperless environment. Throughout your time in the Faculty of Medicine, you will be required to access and interact with electronic resources and assessments. The Bring Your Own Device guidelines for selecting mobile devices, including laptops, tablets and smartphones, have been created to ensure that you can easily access all necessary learning resources. Almost all of our current students have mobile devices; we strongly recommend that all incoming students have their own devices to enable access to course materials and information.
Students should use devices in an appropriate manner, and certain learning environments may not always be appropriate for use of electronic devices. Please be considerate of the environment and others.
The Purple Book from your Year 2 peers has some valuable insights from your upper-year peers about computers and technology, and we recommend you review the Purple Book to hear what they have to say about devices.

Please see the Library Guide for your resources.
Transportation
The Undergraduate Medical Education Program is distributed across the Province within four “Distributed Sites” where each site has unique transportation needs. While public transit is available for many activities, other mandatory activities require you to travel to and from areas with limited public transit service, or not accessible within the time allotted by public transit. You may wish to discuss other modes of transportation (carpooling, ridesharing, etc) with your Year 2 Buddies. Some of these other modes of transportation require a valid drivers’ license.
