It’s been a winding path that has carried me to where I am today. I grew up in Ottawa, spending summers at the lake and winters trying to keep warm. My first real trip out of the country didn’t happen until I was almost finished high school. When we stepped off that plane in Rome, I knew I wouldn’t be staying in Canada.
I finished a Human Kinetics degree at OttawaU and then spent a year at UofT completing an Education degree. I graduated and about five weeks later, moved to Mexico where I had my first job at a small, private school. What had initially started as a year long stint quickly took shape as an overseas career. I moved cities and spent two more years in Mexico before moving to Venezuela. After four years of arepas, polar and Chavez, I was offered a job in Beijing. Ten years later, I’m still here.
I’m keen to explore the offerings of this course and to share in the experiences of the group. Not only do I need to keep up with my students – 😉 but I want to be able to facilitate a challenging but effective learning environment. It’s a very dynamic landscape out there and I am ready to jump in.
