Occupational Safety and Health is a multi-disciplinary field concerned with protecting the safety, health, and welfare of people involved in work or employment. Risk Management Services is a service department at the University of British Columbia whose mission is to ensure employee and student’s safety. Their services include occupational and research safety, environmental impact reduction, emergency preparedness, insurance placement, loss prevention, and internal consulting assistance. RMS also provide courses to students and staff in laboratory safety. RMS operates under WorkSafe BC’s regulations.
There is another company in the occupational safety field named Mayoreo de Articulos de Seguridad that holds operations in Mexico. Mayoreo de Seguridad is a wholesale company specialized in selling personal protective equipment from brands such as 3M, MAPA, Kimberly-Clark, Tyvek, MSA, and MCR Safety. The company provides first aid, traffic control, safety signs, height safety, protective clothing and footware, respiratory, hearing, hand, and eye protection. They work under The Secretariat of Labor and Welfare Mexico.
