Due Date: April 15<\/strong> Extension requests will be considered, but<\/span> all work must be submitted by April 20 without exception.<\/strong> The school requires grades by April 27, and I need at least 7 days to grade and submit \u2014 no submissions will be accepted after April 20.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Portfolio (30%)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

You will compose a\u00a0portfolio (format to be decided by you\u00a0(e.g.,\u00a0zine,\u00a0video,\u00a0website,\u00a0journal,\u00a0anthology,\u00a0etc.\u00a0)\u00a0which\u00a0highlights\u00a0\u201cthe work\u201d you did this semester. The portfolio should curate key concepts and insights you take away from the seminar, why and how they spoke to you, and how they might inform the future. \u00a0These do not need to take solely\u00a0a written\u00a0form. \u00a0You can use audio, video, gifs, photographs, doodles,\u00a0drawings\u00a0and so on to make your portfolio. \u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Note:\u00a0You can do your portfolio in groups of 2 or 3, please just let me know ahead of time (and,\u00a0the portfolio itself is expected to be longer and could be in dialogue with each other\u2019s learning).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Components<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The portfolio should include:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. An\u00a0<\/span>introduction<\/span><\/b>\u00a0that describes your portfolio and the key conceptual idea(s) connecting its\u00a0different parts\u00a0(here you might have a theme, or different ones in conversation.\u00a0<\/span>Length<\/span><\/i>: up to 500-600 words<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. The\u00a0<\/span>\u2019product\u2019:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0your portfolio will incorporate\u00a0relevant\u00a0readings\u00a0to anchor the project in the theoretical, conceptual topics as footnotes and should include and expand upon what you learned throughout the class. \u00a0You should draw on weekly\u00a0blogs, your\u00a0presentation, or any other further reflections \/ connections\u00a0you made inside or outside the classroom. The expectation is that you curate\u00a0your portfolio, meaning that what is included or how it is included keeps coherence or\u00a0establishes\u00a0a dialogue with the overall concept of your portfolio.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. The\u00a0<\/span>not so obviou<\/span><\/b>s<\/span><\/i><\/b>\u00a0that can be included: those notes or ideas jotted down when reading or during discussions in class, while thinking, during conversations you had about class topics with family and friends, stories or objects that came into conversation with the course materials and helped you connect to the theme of gender, peace and security and different topics in the class. \u00a0You may want to make connections across\u00a0themes, or\u00a0draw up a manifest or guidelines that you will carry forward, or a feminist toolbox.\u00a0The purpose is to show evidence of thinking\u00a0and reflexive reflection throughout the course.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. A\u00a0<\/span>closing section<\/span><\/b>\u00a0which offers concluding reflections and may put forth future directions (200-300 words).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. A\u00a0<\/span>bibliography<\/span><\/b>\u00a0on the works cited.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Evaluation<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Content (Conceptual, Reflexive and Analytical): 60%<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Writing: 20%<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Design\/visuals\/Audio: 20%<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      Other considerations in evaluation of the project are:<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/h6>\n

      • Clarity of ideas<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Originality of ideas\/vision<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Coherence content\/image\/vision (for creative projects)<\/span><\/li>\n
