Based on Inquiry, students develop a question related to their passion that they can research. Projects can be something physical that they design, build, or create, or media based such as movies and slideshows.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/h6>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Grade Level:<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 0.857142857rem; line-height: 1.846153846;\"> Intermediate (but could be adapted for primary or secondary students)<\/span><\/h6>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Duration:<\/span> 60 minutes a week (students read, research, plan and design their Genius Hour projects)<\/h6>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Learning Outcomes:\u00a0<\/span><\/h6>\n<h6>Communication<\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h6>Connect and engage with others (to share and develop ideas)<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h6>Acquire, interpret, and present information (includes inquires)<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h6>Collaborate to plan, carry out and review constructions and activities<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h6>Explain\/re-count and reflect on experiences and accomplishments<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6>For more information on Learning Outcomes visit\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/curriculum.gov.bc.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/curriculum.gov.bc.ca\/<\/a><\/h6>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #ff6600; font-size: 0.857142857rem; line-height: 1.846153846;\">*Note: GH projects should not be graded. Get Inspired (show video clips to inspire and motivate your students)<\/h6>\n<h6>2. Brainstorm Ideas (give examples of GH projects) Here is an example of a student&#8217;s Stop-Motion GH project\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/geniushour\/files\/2015\/03\/flaming-snail-copy.mov\">flaming snail copy<\/a><\/h6>\n<h6>3. Go over Rules (adapt for your class and grade level)<\/h6>\n<h6>4. Create and Inquiry or Driving Question (big questions you can&#8217;t answer by simply &#8220;Googling&#8221;)<\/h6>\n<h6>5. Share and Reflect (how will you share it? Take it to the next level?)<\/h6>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">\u00a0*Note:<span style=\"color: #333333;\"> Depending on your grade level and class, you may need to provide more or less criteria for students. Before you begin ask yourself the following questions:<\/span><\/span><\/h6>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">&#8211; Do you want students to conduct their research using a variety of sources, not just the internet?<\/span><\/span><\/h6>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">-Do you want them to have a minimum number of facts on the topic?<\/span><\/span><\/h6>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">-How will they share their work? Present to the class? \u00a0Other classes? The school? On their blogs?<\/span><\/span><\/h6>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">-Do they have a timeline when their projects need to be done by, or is the project ongoing?<\/span><\/span><\/h6>\n<h6>&#8211;<span style=\"color: #333333;\">Can they work on their projects at home or just at school?
