Learning objectives
This post is about topics explored in the first GIS laboratory session, which had the following learning objectives:
Demonstrate basic use of GIS software ArcGIS by completing the Introduction to ArcGIS on-line tutorial from ESRI:
- Display map features;
- Add data to your map;
- Manipulate data tables;
- Create a map (layout);
- Save your map and associated data files.
GIS applications:
- Explore GIS applications posted on the internet;
- Describe spatial data and geographic analysis for GIS map;
- Discuss data integrity and ethical implications for GIS map.
Completion of basic course by ESRI
The Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) provides an online basic course for everyone who is interested in learning about Geographical Information Systems (GIS). The basic course introduces students to GIS concepts and the interface of ArcGIS through a series of videos, lessons, and exercises.
I completed the basic course and was awarded a Certificate of Completion!
