Conclusion

The Northern Goshawk is hyper sensitive to changes in its environment, which makes it difficult do determine thoroughly or outright what the leading cause of the species’ population decline. This research was conducted to build knowledge about the leading variables that are thought to be causing the species’ decline through contemporary GIS analysis.  The analysis of the spatial correlation between human population, road infrastructure, Forestry operation and Goshawk habitats, has revealed that; in a region that shares all of those variables, the Goshawk habitat location is still slightly correlated to the area of minimum human inhabitants. This information could be useful for the future conservation of the species, and may inform the importance of limiting human presence and urban development in regions known to contain Northern Goshawk habitat.
