Map 8. THLB after applied all the criteria
Map 8 shows our final results for the management. The total THLB is 17507.7 ha. Recall that our AOI is 43886 ha and our THLB before management is 43886 ha, our management obtained around 40% area of AOI and about 60% of the original THLB area. We feel that our final map is would be a great recommendation and consultation for forestry companies to better achieve sustainable forest harvesting.
First Class, which stands for our most preferred area is mainly in the southeast part of the area of interest, with some in the southwest side.
First Class areas have mainly douglas-fir, and age falls in between 120 and 140 years old, which is our more preferred age within the mature trees section.
Second Class areas have mainly spruce, with some douglas-fir and cedar, and with ages fall in the more preferred group as well.
The Third Class areas also contain mainly spruce, with some douglas-fir and fir, with a mix of more preferred and less preferred age class (141 to 249 years old).
The Fourth Class areas mainly contain spruce with some douglas-fir, and evenly covers the two classes within the mature age group.
Fifth Class areas contain spruce, fir, and a little bit of pine, and covers the whole mature age range.
Sixth Class areas have fir only, and have trees that are aged from 141 to 249 years old.
