Woven Words and Woven Worlds<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

My people<\/p>\n

My friends<\/p>\n

Your stories surround me once again<\/p>\n

Your histories entwine me<\/p>\n

Shining words of wisdom<\/p>\n

Revealing the hidden truths in a new light<\/p>\n

A history of woven words<\/p>\n

Stories and memories tied into cloth<\/p>\n

Your histories are woven and worn<\/p>\n

Your woven words are a guiding truth<\/p>\n

Linked back into the roots of time<\/p>\n

Our histories so intertwined<\/p>\n

I wish to see the world grow<\/p>\n

From a developing collective identity<\/p>\n

For their history is so close to you and to me<\/p>\n

\n

Can you see that the past has been unclear<\/p>\n

As to how \u2018we\u2019 would survive here<\/p>\n

Under the colonial rule and living in fear<\/p>\n

I see pain and misery<\/p>\n

However love again prevails<\/p>\n

In this new light<\/p>\n

Embedded in costs of colonialism<\/p>\n

Where are our people<\/p>\n

Our histories, our stories, our woven words, our memories<\/p>\n

Of a time not so long, long ago<\/p>\n

When the world was made<\/p>\n

woven in the maize<\/p>\n

Of my people,<\/p>\n

Who would have liked to live<\/p>\n

And learned to grow together<\/p>\n

But some where along the way – along the way<\/p>\n

Violence and tragedy paved the way<\/p>\n

Our rights were taken away<\/p>\n

Taken, stolen and brushed away<\/p>\n

Some day not so far away<\/p>\n

\n

My people<\/p>\n

My friends<\/p>\n

Will grow strong again<\/p>\n

For our history is woven here<\/p>\n

For us to remember our past<\/p>\n

And teach you of your colonial history too<\/p>\n

To know where we have came from and to where we will go<\/p>\n

My family and friends are guiding me<\/p>\n

All around the world in which you see<\/p>\n

With a history similar to you<\/p>\n

Guiding back to me<\/p>\n

Reaching out my hand<\/p>\n

To pull you along the way<\/p>\n

To create a new day<\/p>\n

Our woven word, our woven worlds, to get our voices heard<\/p>\n

Listen to ours stories our histories<\/p>\n

You will begin to see that this colonial history<\/p>\n

Is still here in the present day<\/p>\n

In our current world, still here today<\/p>\n

And needs to be revealed in this new way<\/p>\n

Today<\/p>\n

The stories of many verse the evening news<\/p>\n

Collective collaboration<\/p>\n

Cultural preservation<\/p>\n

Creating space for a new world<\/p>\n

A new worldview<\/p>\n

Where we make space for the old and bring in the new<\/p>\n

Recognizing the Indigenous in the academic<\/p>\n

Making space for the Cosmovision<\/p>\n

As a current and recognized world religion<\/p>\n

A cultural revolution is here<\/p>\n

Collective creative resistance is near<\/p>\n

The revolution is indigenous dear<\/p>\n

The indigenous revolution is near<\/p>\n

No, no<\/p>\n

The indigenous revolution is here<\/p>\n

For our people are standing strong<\/p>\n

This much is clear<\/p>\n

This much is clear<\/p>\n

But look inside and see that a part of you is indigenous too<\/p>\n

Creating our identity a new<\/p>\n

Creative resistance with you<\/p>\n

Creating resistance with you<\/p>\n

Dear Mr. President<\/p>\n

Why has so much history been hidden<\/p>\n

Why can you say all these people are equal<\/p>\n

Deserving their freedom<\/p>\n

Yet draw a line in the sand and<\/p>\n

Go against your words<\/p>\n

These days of hypocrisy and mediocrity<\/p>\n

Need to be thrown away<\/p>\n

For today is a new day<\/p>\n

Solidarity beings with you<\/p>\n

The East and the West<\/p>\n

My sisters my brothers<\/p>\n
