Cariboo Friendship Society

The Cariboo Friendship Society (CFS) is a First Nations Center of Friendship that offers a large range of social services to all people, economic development programs and urban Aboriginal Housing. These services include, amongst others, a transition house for women and their children, a program for children who witness abuse, shelter services, mental health and addictions services, a pregnancy outreach program, and an elder’s circle of care program. The CFS is a large non-profit organization employing over 70 people in the Cariboo.

This will be the first year that the Geography Field Course will be collaborating with the CFS.  Given the enormous variety of issues and initiatives the CFS is involved in, there a huge range of possible collaboration projects.  They are open to students’ ideas and will coordinate within the organization to match students with the people best suited to help them pursue their specific interests.
