About

Hello, hello!

I’m Chelsey Cu, an environment and sustainability student at the University of British Columbia (UBC). I’m majoring in geography and, as such, I have grown very friendly with ArcGIS. I think we’ve developed a love hate relationship. When the software is running properly and I know what to do, it’s great! And when I get stuck, it’s a nightmare! But, despite it all, I’ve grown to love using the program and appreciate the process and results of GIS analysis.

Geographic information systems (GIS) has become a fast growing field as location becomes a growing factor in analysis results. This blog is designed to share what I have learned while taking the Research in GIScience course at UBC. While GIS can be applied to a wide range of fields, this course in particular focuses on crime, ecology and health geography.
