Welcome to the Global Health Network website
The Liu Global Health Network (GHN) seeks to enable the development of broad, transdisciplinary conceptions of global health – towards a more inclusive approach. The Network will host a range of activities at the Liu Institute that:
- Explore established and taken-for-granted perspectives on global health;
- Explore established discourses for addressing global health related issues in local, national and global contexts and contributes to new ones;
- Explore and put forward transdisciplinary developments in global health (Forestry, Arts, Humanities, Sciences);
- Address the implications of global health on the Liu themes of Sustainability, Security, and Social Justice.
Global health can be conceptualized as an area for study, research, and practice that places a priority on improving well-being of people in ways that are just, equitable, and sustainable. It emphasizes transnational issues, determinants, and solutions; involves many disciplines within and beyond the health sciences and promotes transdisciplinary collaboration. The Global Health Network takes an interdisciplinary problem-solving approach to explore new ideas and ways of learning to catalyze innovative thinking and positive societal change.
