Graduating as a dental hygienist ten years ago was a segway to natural evolution into the dental field as an oral health care professional and to become an advocate for oral health for all. Over the years, the profession has changed immensely and continues to improve as cutting-edge research emerges. It is an honor to have the opportunity to attain higher education through UBC Faculty of Dentistry.
After specializing in a periodontal practice for several instrumental years, a position as a clinical instructor ensued and motivated the desire to obtain a bachelor’s degree in effort of to achieve an academic career. However, some of my greatest professional accomplishments derive from non-work-related efforts, such as volunteering.
Career goals of mine involve encouraging others to seek volunteer opportunity and facilitate access to dental care. It would be an honor to empower future dental students and to equip them with the necessary tools needed to lead their profession and to maintain a positive, safe and ethical environment for all.
The abovementioned career aspirations are driven by a deep-rooted passion for oral health and overall well-being however that same passion exists within for the great outdoors and family and friends alike.
It is with sincere gratefulness that I thank you for taking time to read this page.
