{"id":64,"date":"2009-11-06T08:47:40","date_gmt":"2009-11-06T16:47:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/grace\/?p=64"},"modified":"2009-11-06T08:47:40","modified_gmt":"2009-11-06T16:47:40","slug":"a-collaborative-epiphany","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/grace\/2009\/11\/06\/a-collaborative-epiphany\/","title":{"rendered":"A collaborative epiphany&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday\u00a0I had the privilege of attending a webinar <a href=\"http:\/\/www.higheredhero.com\/MH\/0\">Informal Learning Spaces on Campus<\/a> presented by David Zaiser. It was especially interesting because I had just recently watched Dr. M. Wesch&#8217;s inspiring podcast\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/umanitoba.ca\/ist\/production\/streaming\/podcast_wesch.html\">The Future of Education<\/a>. What the two presentations have in common is a focus on student-centred learning and the strong role collaboration has to play in learning.<\/p>\n<p>I have a keen\u00a0interest in Learning Commons, mostly because I work at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bcit.ca\/learningcommons\">BCIT Learning Commons<\/a>. The \u00a0dual rise of Web 2.0 and the Commons\u00a0phenomena always intrigued me. It is only this term, due to a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.slais.ubc.ca\/COURSES\/coursdes\/libr\/libr594.htm\">Directed Study<\/a> on Learning Commons and <a href=\"http:\/\/http:\/\/www.slais.ubc.ca\/COURSES\/coursdes\/libr\/libr559m.htm\">Libr 559M<\/a>\u00a0that I have realized\u00a0collaboration and digital information are\u00a0 the common factors between the two.
