“Our blogs, websites, Twitter rants and LinkedIn profiles reveal as much – if not more – about us than a semi-fictionalized CV.”
Many companies reveal that often hire wrong people through candidates’ CV but the main reason for failure is not because applicants didn’t have the requisite skills, but because their personalities clashed with the company’s culture. When an employee’s value does not match with the value of his company, the employee will not commit to his jobs; he does not feel that he belongs to the company, and these results in inefficiency on task performance.
Therefore, company needs to go beyond the CV and find out the real or potential personalities, abilities and talents that are matched with the company’s culture and value. Surprisingly, they hire video games to detect the most suitable candidate for each position.
It sounds quite ridiculous to use video games to hire employees but when we understand the underlying mechanism, it makes sense.

Basically, this game is like a psychometric test that attempt to objectively measure aspects of your mental ability or your personality. However, I think it is not reliable. How can video games predict a person’s personality accurately, and many other factors should be taken into account. Maybe the person is bad about using computer and he does not know how to control the game characters or the person may play the games carelessly because he think that games are just for fun, and finally got poor scores. Therefore, it is not fair for each person who plays the games.
Tests and games are very different and I still wonder how well it measures and differentiate someone’s personality. What are your thoughts?
