The life and times of MET student

Course Site

As someone with no experience creating a website or using web 2.0 tools, the development of my LMS using the Moodle platform was a gradual process that required a lot of time, hard work, and self-directed learning.  I developed my competency in using Moodle through a combination of: working through the modules in the eLearning toolkit; reading through a Moodle manual; watching tutorials on Youtube and the archived Wimba session; participating in the Moodle discussion forum; and looking through LMS sites created last year. The purpose of my site is to serve as a tool for online learning and communication for both parents and students in my Grade 5 class.  I think the site effectively serves this purpose.  While the design may not be highly sophisticated, I believe that the overall quality of my LMS is quite good, demonstrating effective use of educational technology.

Please see the Synthesis page for further reflection on my course site.

*Note: In my course site, my complete modules include topic 3, Social Studies, and topic 4, Language Arts.  Topic 3 has been chosen for manual selective release by hiding it from students’ view.  My discussion forum for separate groups is under topic 2, Science, and is titled: “Science-The Human Body”.
