Technology intensifies the market of telecommunication. Every tech company wants to get out of the wire line business. The motive for AT&T to get into the world of cloud computing is very simple – leading ahead of the market and create competitive advantage. The world of technology grows rapidly, and whenever new innovation comes out, the old gets obsoleted. AT&T wants to become the pioneer and utilize the new market of cloud computing to eliminate competitors. Also, its partnership with Amazon, who owns one of the biggest cloud platforms, Amazon Web Services, solidifies the company’s first step of getting into the market. On the other hand, as computers get smarter, low and middle-skilled workers are in a greater risk of getting laid off. Hence, AT&T is encountering a huge threat where CWA (Communications Workers of America), would try hard to prevent massive job cuts induced by digital system, as one of the reason why United States is still a straggler in telecommunication among the developed countries.
