Ugly has become a new style! Canadians are getting so obsessed with ugly Christmas sweater that the trend seems to be unstoppable. As NHL is getting in the game, sweaters have been embraced with the team logo and represented as team pride. Sweater companies look at it as a great opportunity and associate their products with the team fame to target zealous fans. Clearly, customers don’t buy the products for how they look but more focus on the meaning behind the products. Here’s the time when culture matters because cultures are appealing. People tend to buy things that they are easily referred with.
Also, as people express the uglier the better, it is easy to conclude that customers have shifted their tastes from normal jerseys to the redefined “beauty.” It is proven by the retailers that the demand for traditional jersey has experienced dramatic decrease while that of the sweaters doubled.
It is also notable that the sweaters have a wide range of styles and colors where customization is highly achieved. No wonder why the ugly sweater phenomenon can keep spreading over the country.
