Ministry, Intersectionality and Justice (Michiko Bown-Kai)

Today we had an inspiring talk and discussion with Michiko Bown-Kai, who spoke via video chat about:

1/ their role in the United Church ministry

2/ ministry as a medium requiring an intersectional approach to justice for the people

3/ their work as a community educator focusing on gender identity/sexuality and faith

4/ incorporating intersectionality in workshop spaces

Michiko is a queer person of colour who currently lives in Toronto, Ontario (Haudenosaunee, Huron-Wendat, and Anishinabek Territories). They are a candidate for ministry within the United Church of Canada and are currently studying at Emmanuel College in the Masters of Divinity program.
