Past feminist look at feminists
Angela Mc Robbie is less than optimistic about the success of feminism of the 70’s and 80’s.1 She and other feminists are worried about the fact that Post Feminists “dismiss” the need for feminism in contemporary culture.” Post feminists feel that the modern woman is equal in every way to her male peers and that she is free to shape her own future.2 This is a highly idealistic picture of Canada and the world. The majority of women in many countries continue to live in poverty and have no access to education or the legal system. The situation is changing in Canada, but it is far from equal. Take a look at the number of women in the high levels of government or corporations to judge how far we have really come.
