After reading Rogowsky Larissa’s blog Shrek: How clever advertising is expanding its target market, I truly found that some firms are so good at using advertisement to increase their target market.

Advertising is used to deliver the message to target audience, so that more target audience will be attracted and more revenues the firms can gain. As Larissa mentions that Shrek is a good example to show how the company uses new approach to enthrall kids and engage their parents to expand their target market. Marketers are trying to bind more activities on primary target market, because those activities will cause other people who relate to the primary market to be engaged in the original activities. The usage of Shrek to expand target market is successful, while PNE uses the same strategy and being successful as well. PNE prints a lot of pictures which show its amazing activities on buses to attract young customers. The play land is targeting young level people which age is between 5 ~ 25. However, most of its activities require adults accompany, because they are dangerous. Thus, during the summer, a lot of parents will go to PNE with their children to have fun together. Those parents will consume tickets, buy merchandises, and enjoy the activities together with their children.

By and large, advertising is an effective way to expand target market. Marketers are always seeking a better way to help firms to expand target market.
