Findings:
- The designated smoking area is not accesible to smoking residents, causing them to smoke in areas which create conflict with non-smokers
- The current design is not preferable for outdoor use in Vancouver’s damp and rainy climate
- The current layout of the front and back areas does not have many users taking advantage of either area
Recommendations:
- A two stage design process where a preliminary design could be implemented in the near future
- A second stage design to be implemented further down the road.
- An increase in enforcement of city smoking by-laws by the Haro Park staff
