Due to the similarity to the British edition, I will not go in depth comparing the Canadian and American edition. One interesting thing to note, though, is that Scholastics Canada (the Canadian arm of the American Publisher) also published versions of the British edition for their Education market, however, these editions seem to mirror the British books just as the Raincoast prints do. A posting of a copy of one of these books can be found here, though due to the fact that the book lists other books in the series beyond what is listed in UBC’s first edition, this is likely printed later, answering the sellers hypothetical question as to whether his might actually be a first Canadian printing of the philosophers stone (though this is still not proven). As well, due to the proximity, some merchandise used the American branding designs and title for the Canadian market, so it would not be uncommon to see the Sorcerer’s stone referenced on something found in a used store in Canada given the cross-border trade relationship.
