LMS Reflection
Creating “Exploring Math 8” as a Moodle site has been a significant growth experience for me. The assignment motivated me to take time, sit down, and actually work through a skill set that I’ve always been interested in developing.
For the splash page, I used a free site recommended by a colleague Bannercreator.nu which has a very shallow learning curve. The scope of the application seems limited though and has few built-in images to select from. In the future, I think I’ll search out other sites.
Creating text-based web pages within Moodle was easy and actually became quite boring after the first few! If I knew this site was going to be put into action, images on these pages would be a definite must. If the creator could feel downtrodden making them, imagine how the learner would feel! So I decided to figure out how to add a link to a webpage, how to link to teachertube.ca and a few other things. The funny thing is, once I figured it all out (and yes, I know there’s much more to learn!), what used to seem impressive isn’t quite so anymore. Similarly, creating groups and adding “students” was easy too.
This has been a personal growth experience for me – well worth my time.
