We compiled a map of cooling centres in other Metro Vancouver municipalities into one map on ArcGIS using the locate tool for addresses and creation of points. Most of these centres were community centres or libraries. Locations for the City of Vancouver were obtained from the City of Vancouver. Locations for Bowen Island, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, and Richmond were obtained from Vancouver Coastal Health. Locations for Burnaby, Coquitlam, Delta, Langley, Maple Ridge, New Westminster, Pitt Meadows, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Surrey, Tsawwassen First Nation, and White Rock were obtained from Fraser Health.
The most recent temperature data we could obtain from CANUE was 2015, which is why we selected data for that year.
