About Me

Welcome! My name is Helena, but most call me Lena, and I have a passion for educational technology. As a forever-lifelong student, I love learning new skills and exploring new topics, whether that be through school, articles, documentaries, YouTube videos, or even friends! I often find myself in rabbit holes, clicking through reference lists. In my spare time, I do a lot of reading, gardening, and walking.

At my core, I am a researcher, with a special interest in education, technology, and media. Professionally, my ed-tech area of focus is corporate learning and development (L&D) in a remote-first work environment.

I am progressively working to be both practically and theoretically knowledgeable about the ed-tech industry, as over the past two years I have devoted my time to expanding my repertoire of hard skills to include UX/UI design, basic front-end dev, and a handful of other foundational technical skills. I really enjoy working with people and being part of a team, and I usually gravitate to roles that heavily rely on communication (aka chatting because I love hearing people’s ideas, interests, and perspectives).

Currently, I am a part-time student at the University of British Colombia’s Masters of Educational Technology program. In 2021 I graduated from TMU (formerly Ryerson) with my MA in Literature.
