- I started to work in TOUCHSTONE THEATRE as an administrative Intern from October 19th, 2012. Touchstone Theatre is located in Granvile Island that is famous for beautiful Island in Vancouver. I usually try to arrive office 20 minutes earlier to enjoy this place. There are Public Market, Art Gallerys, Canada Souvenir stores and restaurants. I prefer to get positive engery before starting my work in the morning.
- I want to share brief Touchstone theatre Introduction from www.touchstonetheatre.com website.
” Touchstone Theatre exists to develop and present professional Canadian theatrical productions. It encourages explorations in content and form, and introduces new works to the public. “
“For over 30 years Touchstone Theatre has been a mainstay of theatrical innovation and excellence on the West Coast. The company’s all-Canadian mandate has helped launch and develop some of the country’s most important playwrights and actors, and its substantial body of work has garnered over 50 local and national awards. “
- On the first week, I did advertising projects to prepare Novermber Performance, “Eternal Hydra”. This play will be shown at Studio 16 on 1555 west 7th, from Nov 1st – 11th 2012. Therefore, I attached the “Eternal Hydra” psters and put some brochures in gallerys , library and cafes in Downtown for advertisement. Sometimes it was challenging for me, because I felt nervous when others don’t allow to put some posters of our play or I lost the road in heavy rain day. However, the most interesting to me is to visit many various places such as Langara college, SFU and Emily Carr universtiy. Especially, I was really impressive to see how Canadian students learn about Arts and Design. Their studioes for classes seemed active and creative to study. I hope to join the classes if I can get chances to learn with them 🙂
- On the second week , I made the Google+ business homepage for Touchstone theatre. This website is a social media to contact with others by using Internet. I uploaded informations about the Touchsstone theatre ,2012-13 SEASON that shows the upcoming performances and Events for audiences. Even though it took long times to make it than I exected, it was rewarded to me. I really hope that it will be helpful our company and Google+ users. In addition, I managed the list of subscribers and donators. I sent e-mail to subscribers of our theatre and said to Thank you for support. I learned how to send e-mail politely in workplace.
- On the third week of my Intern, Our play “Eternal Hydra” opened!! Novermber 1st, many employees and art directors who work in differnent theatres of Vancouver came to our studio for celebrate OPENING NIGHT. I did an usher in Box office with my co-workers and volunteers. Louis & Me prepared some foods and snacks for them and actors. I was happy to see awesome actors and actress in front of my eyes. I also made friends who did volunteer job to help ticketing.
- On the fourth week of my Intern, I spend busy time in ticketing and receiving phone to make sure about the reservation of “Eternal Hydra” performance. There are some problems during the show, because many patrons misunderstood the location of stage. Therefore, I have to call all audiences to let them know clear direction of the Studio 16. I really happy to hear that patrons said to me ” Thank You, Helena. “
- On the fifth week of Intern, I did marketing job to organize the reports about revenues from our show. It was advanced job for me, because I have to figure out where these profits came out in 2012. In addition, I was unfamiliar with the way of counting Canada money. From this work, Louise asked me to write down the all notes from the meeting . That notes was about result of 2012 Touchstone Marketing and plan of 2013~2014. I also got ideas how the Canadian company made company’s conference. It seemed that they allow to express their opinions freely and they divided their section to talk such as “Strength & Weakness” or ” Opportunities & Threat ” for company’s plan.
- On the sixth week of Intern, I organized the list of all members who will join the 2013 Lawyer Show, 2013 GO PLAY and made a Contact -list by Excel . From the work, I became get to know many kind of websites(Graphic mail/Base camp)and program(Database) that usually used in office to arrange the email and address of patrons. In addition, I uploaded the Bio of actors, playwrights and designers working in Touchstone theatre on homepage. I saw many different resumes and photos from this work. I learned about how to write a resume and how could make resume look good to company. Finally I burned to disc to distribute the “Eternal Hydra” photos and sent CDs to production team staff(included artists and actors) worked for making the stage.

- On the seventh week of Intern, I prepared the “The Lawyer Show 2013″.I made scripts and muscial lyrics for 38 lawyers who will participant in fundraising event” The Lawyer Show “. It is a special event in Touchstone, so I needed to focus on my work that making scripts for participants. Therefore, I tried to find contact information of secondary school teacher in Vancouver to advertise our program “Go Play” for children. To be specific, I have to research ‘school board of canada’ on the Google and found the contact info or e-mail address of school teacher related the fine art, drama, photo and music. From this work, I was impressed when I searched the interesting blogs of passionate teachers who they really love their students.
- On the eighth week of Intern, I researched the “Review Article” about our production of Touchstone in the newspaper( ART&LIFE Section). In addition, I organized these articles according to the seasonal plays by years(1999~2012). It was great opportunity to read critical review articles written by reporter about our productions. Finally, my friendly co-work Keegan invited me to see the show “Leo” for my farewell celebration. It was amazing show to enjoy!

LEO
Produced by Circle of Eleven
Daniel Briere, DirectorThink inside the box. Berlin-based Circle of Eleven brings to Santa Monica this funny, intriguing, and moving journey of a seemingly ordinary man as his world is physically unhinged. From the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to New York, the award winning LEOhas been described as “mind-bending,” and “an eye-teasing, grin-inducing work of sustained absurdist magic” (Time Out New York). Integrating continuous live video projections, this one man, one-of-a-kind physical theater piece defies theatrical convention as brilliantly as it does the laws of gravity. Jaws will drop as LEO takes “off the wall” to a whole new level.*Reference about LEO http://thebroadstage.com/LEO
