Thalictrum rochebruneanum
lavender mist
Ranunculaceae
Characteristics: Lovely little light-lavender flowers. Flowers are sepals surrounded by a big mass of stamens. Some flowers are male, others female. Very unusual 4 X pinnately compound leaf (good shade adaptation). Waxy stems.
Growing conditions: Woodland plant. Prefers moist soil, rich in organic matter. Stake up or grown through plants that add structure and hold it up (e.g., an established rhododendron just behind it will hold it up). A very good shade perennial.
Limitations: Lavender mist is very brittle and will need staking up. It is also vigorous and can become weedy with seeds.
