On my short practicum I had the students do a brainstorm on what makes a good teacher. I think the picture below exemplifies what students want and I use it as a guide for my own practise.
When I went back for my long practicum I taught a unit on the Middle Ages. Each lesson was framed around a critical question. Some examples are below.
– In what ways is historical religious membership similar to and different from modern-day nationhood?
– How did the Norman system of feudalism brought about by William the Conqueror change the lives of English freeholders and serfs?
– Was John a Good King?
– Knighthood and Chivalry: Harsh and Brutal or Noble and Romantic?
