Key Questions: What is your vision for social studies? How will you translate that vision? How do you create a classroom that works? What is the role of content in social studies? What is the nature of education?
EDCP332A Social Studies- Secondary: Curriculum and Pedagogy
- Instructor: Peter Seixas
- Peter Seixas is an inspiration and a legend! His website and textbook called “The Historical Thinking Project” is a fascinating new way to look at history. I found it very helpful on my practicum. He is such a supportive teacher and you would be lucky to be in his class. He assigns his own textbook as well as the textbook written by his “frenemy” Roland Case. They have opposite views on how to teach social studies but Peter includes his book and even has Roland come in as a guest lecturer. I would love to be at a dinner party with these two and hear them debate their teaching philosophies!

EDCP333 Contemporary Issues in Social Studies: Secondary
- Instructor: Wayne Ross
- Wayne Ross is another of my favourite teachers in the B-ed program. He provided readings that challenged the status quo of educational philosophy. He led exciting discussions about all kinds of ethical issues. This was an evening class but I was always excited to attend. Get ahead by reading some of his articles before the term begins.
