I come from a strict family that did not allow me to even stand up for myself in terms of my own views or clothing choices; back home I was excessively dependent on my parents, and there has been an enormous change in me since then. I&#8217;m more certain, more autonomous, and I feel liberated to be myself. Vancouver has truly expanded my worldview. At the end of the day, I realized that parents are strict because they care, and because they have good reason to.
