Hi my name is Anthony Agtarap and welcome to my High Performance Coaching & Technical Leadership Blog !

It is here in this blog, where I’ll be sharing my reflections and thoughts as I work through this program. I hope you enjoy it and that you take something out of it that may challenge you or make you look at something in a different perspective. I look forward to reading your comments and feedback on my posts.

A little bit about me: I’m married to my best friend Samantha who’s pretty awesome. Together we have two incredible teenage daughters both of which inspire me to be the best father I can be everyday for them. In early 2004, I started learning how to coordinate mind and body and become connected to the universe through a martial art practice called Ki-Aikido. I trained daily for over 12 years and eventually instructed some classes at the dojo. The entire experience had a profound impact on me as a person.

In a former life, I worked as a professional engineer for over 10 years but I wasn’t happy with where the career path would ultimately lead. I decided to make the calculated switch to follow a passion and build a career in the health & fitness industry. Today I’m a full-time strength & conditioning coach, weightlifting coach, I compete as Masters level weightlifter, physical educator, problem solver, and connector at Engineered Bodies Strength & Conditioning where I’ve spent over a decade building a strong and inclusive community.

My core values are:

  1. Cultivate a growth mindset – by continuing to grow and develop as individuals
  2. Embrace adversity – because every time we’ve levelled up, it was through adversity.
  3. Challenge the status quo – because we recognize there are a lot of issues with the current models and we need to acknowledge them and be brave enough to challenge them.
  4. Commitment to building a strong and inclusive community – because we can’t do this alone.
