It wasn’t too long ago that I made a post about how I chose Global Health as my resource specialization, the thing I am hoping to focus my undergraduate degree on. I have decided to add the study of “Policy” to my specialization. Over the last little bit, I have started to question why certain policies, regarding our health, have been placed. I have come to a sudden realization: in order to successfully understand why certain policies and decisions are made about our health, there needs to be some kind of understanding of how those policies came into place; doing this would allow me to holistically understand how these laws or policies came into effect and how to go about changing them. Even if I end up in the medical field, there is no reason that I should not strive to try and make people as healthy as they can be in additional health fields. As of now, I do not know very much about policies or laws, and have yet to take a course that discusses them. However, I am enthusiastic to begin to explore the above concepts and see how I will be able to make connections between different fields of study.
