My resource: Global Health and Nutrition. The reason for my choice? To begin with, I have always had an interest in health. Learning about the different aspects of health, whether it be nutritional, mental, or physical health as well as the policies surrounding it has always interested me. I was also interested in applying these concepts at a global level. I had always wondered which one of these aspects I should choose to major in. Upon entering university, I had decided to focus my studies on nutrition in my first year. I figured it would be the one that would include a good portion of what I was interested it. It was not until I discovered the possibilities that the Global Resource Systems major provides that I realized it was possible to include all these aspects in one major. In terms of my regional specialization, I have yet to decide where to focus my studies on. When first deciding to focus on Global Health, the idea was that it would entail studying health in different places around the world. However, focusing my studies on one region in the world would allow for a much more thorough understanding and appreciation of health. Also, when deciding to work in a specific part of the world, it would be more useful to take courses that would be relevant to where I end up working. There is still the option of not focusing it on one region and keeping that broad understanding of health in various parts of the world. This is a decision I still have to make, something I am glad the GRS program allows me to take my time making.
