I tried to create a quiz that reflected the objectives of the mini-course,Web Safety 101. Moodle is still very much a challenge for me, but I do feel better than before. I have gained some sense of confidence in creating a product in this platform. The assessment will touch on social media, techaddiction, cyber bullying, and other aspects of web safety. By using a variety of assessment questioning, this allows students of differing learning styles an opportunity to succeed.
Online assessment offers flexibility to the students to complete it whenever they are able. Although I have graded the quiz on a score of 15, this mini course need not rely on this grading in order to verify student achievement. Completion of activities and participation in the discussions are informal methods to evaluate the students. A teacher can often gauge a student’s understanding through their discussions and debates within the classroom. When this mini course is presented to students, the quiz will probably offer the option of multiple tries. My focus would not been each student’s score out of 15, but on their understanding of each of the sections. I could also offer instant feedback on their work, helping to solidify any understanding. The purpose of assessment should be to evaluate the learning that takes place, not necessarily, to rank students in the classroom, on how well they remember.
