Lauren’s volunteer life from Mar 29th~ at the Boys & Girls Club

• TO BE A DILIGENT VOLUNTEER.

Always i arrive at the place 10 minutes before. And then i organize student’s desk and chair to keep the place neat.

 

 

 

As i receive a name card and my picture is dispalyed on the board, i can have more duties and responsibilities as a member of the club.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

• I DO AND PREPARE WHAT THE SUPERVISOR DEMANDED.

I effort to accomplish a given task in time.

 

 

 

The peak time of workplace is between 3 and 6. So from 2 hours before, I prepare something daily. Usually a supervisor has me do something, I have accomplished well.

• THE HABIT OF DOUBLE CHECKING.

I try to understand perfectly by double checking about uncertain thing.

When somebody has me do something, Sometimes it’s diffucult to understand what they said. Because the speed of saying is fast and the sentence is also long. So whenever i don’t understand well, I ask them to say one more time for double checking. Then, they thanks for asking. I don’t need to be shy for asking because it can prevent to make trouble in the future.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

• ASSIST TO CHILDREN.

Because i am a volunteer, children often ask for me to something. That time i effort to deal with it.

 

 

 

 

 

 

• PAY ATTENTION TO CHILDREN’S BEHAVIOR EVERY SECOND. 

If a kid make some troubles or do rude behavior, volunteers have to point out their wrong things. That is our duty.

 

 

 

 

 

 

• HELP KIDS TO MAKE SOMETHING IN THE ART & CRAFTS ROOM.

↑Arts & Crafts room.  Whenever we make something, we display what we made on the wall.

 

I usually spend most time at the Art&Crafts room. Cuase i love art & craft and i can do it well with children.

 

 

 

 ↑  There are works of art i made. And then i teach them how to make it.

 

 

 

 <Iron beads>

 

 ↑They were concentrating to make something using beads. After they complete their work, i finished the last step using a iron.

When i teach children, i need to say clearly and also need a word of praise for them.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

• I AM LEARNING HOW TO GET ALONG WITH CHILDREN.

 When i started volunteer first, I felt nervous and afraid about the future of my internship. But the time goes by, I am getting along with children doing activity together

The important thing are ‘say hello first’ and remember children’s name. And then i try to talk to them about general life.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

• DECORATE THE BOARD TO SHOW A NEW NOTICE.

A board which is shown at the below picture is my work! It took 2 days by the completion. I proud of my work. Like this, I’ve made a notice poster and decorate the board.

 

 

 

 

 As i have done volunteer work,

after all, i am always polite and considerate towrads children and co-workers.
